Tetrahydrocannabiphorol

THCP calls for particular care when reading potency comparisons and accounts of effects. This profile brings together a chemical discovery, laboratory research and a clinical case: three kinds of evidence that answer different questions and should not be merged.

Ball-and-stick model on a laboratory bench.
Generic stock molecular model: it does not depict the structure of THCP. It illustrates the need to distinguish identity from evidence.

Mixed evidence by question. This label summarises the type of data; it is neither a recommendation to use nor a safety rating.

How we read studies and personal accounts ↗

Identity

Here THCP means Δ9-tetrahydrocannabiphorol: a Δ9-THC homologue with a seven-carbon side chain, identified in cannabis in 2019.

Terms associated with this entry: delta-9-tetrahydrocannabiphorol, Δ9-THCP.

Affinity is not the intensity of an experience

CB1 affinity and mouse findings do not establish relative potency in people.

A human case, with explicit limitations

A 2025 case described psychosis and self-harm after reported THCP use, with alcohol and psychiatric history present. Without analytical product confirmation, it cannot establish frequency or exclusive causation.

Detecting what remains afterwards

In 2026, THCP metabolites were studied using human liver microsomes outside the body. This analytical work informs toxicological detection questions; it does not determine how long effects last in a person.

What has been studied

Risks and gaps

Documented forms

Product reported in a clinical caseThe reported commercial identity is not an analytically confirmed composition.

A molecule and a product are different things. Read about flowers, resins, oils, creams, capsules and vaping.

Experiences

We have not included a verifiable individual account in this review. We do not fill that gap with commercial stories or invented experiences.

Conclusion

Responsible reading keeps the risk signal and its uncertainties together. Neither dismissing a case because it is singular nor treating it as everyone’s inevitable outcome improves understanding.

Legal context

Read the Spain note and official sources. Absence from a cited list does not establish that a product is lawful.
