Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol

Here, THC refers to delta-9-THC. It combines intoxicating effects with limited medical uses: two realities best explained together. A pharmaceutical indication does not validate every product, and recognising a risk does not erase findings for specific medicines.

How we read studies and personal accounts ↗

Identity

Dronabinol is the international name for the (−)-trans-delta-9-THC stereoisomer. WHO clarifies that the name applies whether plant-derived or synthesised; it does not necessarily denote a different molecule.

Terms associated with this entry: delta-9-THC, Δ9-THC, dronabinol.

Molecule and medicine are different questions

The US label consulted indicates dronabinol for AIDS-associated anorexia with weight loss and chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting inadequately controlled by conventional treatment. This is US information, not a statement of availability or authorisation in Spain.

Subjective feeling does not measure ability

CDC describes changes in reaction, coordination and perception relevant to driving. It also explains that a THC concentration does not readily determine an individual’s impairment. Feeling accustomed to something and being able to perform a task safely are different questions.

Why naming precisely matters

“Synthetic” may describe how a substance was obtained; it is not enough to identify it. Dronabinol provides a particularly clear example. When reading a report, retain the chemical name, preparation and country, without transferring findings from other cannabinoids to THC or treating every synthetic compound as one clinical category.

What has been studied

Clinical · specific indications

Specific medical indications exist for dronabinol; their scope depends on the product and jurisdiction.

Risks and gaps

The label includes psychiatric and cognitive effects, sleepiness, dizziness and possible haemodynamic changes.

Impairment of driving-related skills is a risk, not merely a detail of the experience.

Documented forms

Pharmaceutical dronabinol capsulesForm documented in the US label; no instructions or access guidance are provided.

A molecule and a product are different things. Read about flowers, resins, oils, creams, capsules and vaping.

Experiences

We have not included a verifiable individual account in this review. We do not fill that gap with commercial stories or invented experiences.

Conclusion

A balanced reading keeps limited medical usefulness, intoxication and risks together. An identity profile clarifies what is being discussed; clinical decisions and the legal framework require their own context.

Legal context

Read the Spain note and official sources. Absence from a cited list does not establish that a product is lawful.
