Identity / very sparse data. This label summarises the type of data; it is neither a recommendation to use nor a safety rating.
How we read studies and personal accounts ↗Identity
It denotes HHC hydroxylated at position 9, with 9α and 9β forms. It is not equivalent to 9R-HHC or 9S-HHC.
Terms associated with this entry: 9-hydroxyhexahydrocannabinol, 9-hidroxi-HHC.
When the compound is among the accompanying constituents
In 2023, researchers isolated 9α-OH-HHC and 9β-OH-HHC among impurities in a commercial delta-8 THC sample. Here, ‘impurity’ describes presence alongside the main component; it is not, by itself, a toxicity measurement or evidence that every product contains the same constituents.
Resemblance is not enough for identification
Investigated screening methods include separate references for both forms. Distinguishing them avoids reducing a family of compounds to one name. For readers, the consequence is practical: an incomplete abbreviation does not justify automatically transferring findings from one substance to another.
What has been studied
The analytical evidence consulted does not demonstrate therapeutic benefits in humans.
Risks and gaps
Substance-specific clinical data are lacking. Being able to detect a compound does not mean knowing its long-term effects.
Documented forms
| Constituent of an analysed sample | The source documents a finding in delta-8 THC material, not a medicine or validated product form. |

A molecule and a product are different things. Read about flowers, resins, oils, creams, capsules and vaping.
Experiences
We have not included a verifiable individual account in this review. We do not fill that gap with commercial stories or invented experiences.
Conclusion
9-OH-HHC deserves to be distinguished by its structure and the provenance of each finding. Precise chemical identity begins an assessment; it does not complete it.
Legal context
Read the Spain note and official sources. Absence from a cited list does not establish that a product is lawful.
